Mr. David Wormold Explains How Donations Help St. Joseph’s Deliver Exceptional Care to our Community

We’re fortunate as Canadians to have universally accessible healthcare. But when healthcare is funded primarily by our tax dollars, have you ever wondered why support from the community is so vital to organizations like St. Joseph’s Health Centre? We asked St. Joseph’s President, David Wormald, to help explain this to our donors and friends.“While healthcare centres like ours are fortunate to receive government funding that helps to cover 85 – 100 percent of our operating costs, this budget only provides for the bare necessities needed to care for the people of our region,” Mr. Wormald explains. “The government’s budget does not always account for the costs of purchasing medical equipment—and that equipment that is absolutely necessary to provide the care our patients need. So that’s when we reach out to our community to ask for their support in closing the funding gap.” Generous donations from people just like you help our Foundation to raise funds that enables St. Joseph’s to purchase the latest technology and equipment to diagnose, monitor, treat and care for our patients: from the most basic of walking aids to the most technologically advanced medication delivery systems. State-of-the-art medical equipment enables St. Joseph’s to provide the best rehab therapy, complex medical care, palliative care and long-term care in a safe and supportive environment. And we couldn’t do it without you.
