VOLUNTEER FAQ

I just signed up to volunteer. What is the next step?
A Foundation team member will connect you within 3 business days to chat about next steps.

What should I wear?

  • Set-up volunteers: Please dress appropriately for outdoor work and weather conditions.
  • Event volunteers: We will provide a complimentary t-shirt. Please wear black bottoms. Work gloves will be provided for all shifts, but you may bring your own if you prefer. Wear footwear suitable for a field setting and consider the weather.

How do I get my t-shirt?
T-shirts will provided upon check-in. If you prefer to get your t-shirt in advance, they will be available in September. Please call 519-767-3424 or email fdn@sjhcg.ca to arrange a pick-up time from the Foundation office (100 Westmount Rd., Guelph).

It’s raining. Do I still arrive for my shift?
Yes, Taste of Guelph will operate rain or shine, including set-up.

Where do I park?
Free parking is available on site. The closest parking lot to the event site (Staff Lot #3) will have its gates open for volunteer parking.

Where do I go once I park?
After parking, head to the event site in the field beside the Health Centre. Look for the volunteer tent, which will be marked with a large ‘volunteer’ sign.

Will food and drinks be provided?
Light refreshments will be available for all volunteers. Additionally, volunteers present during the event may sample vendor offerings at their supervisor’s discretion.

Can I store personal items while volunteering?
You are welcome to leave belongings in the volunteer tent.
