From the founding of St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph 157 years ago to our leadership in healthcare today, our community of donors has been a vital partner in our growth and success. David Wormald, President of SJHCG, said, “St. Joseph’s receives annual funding to support operations but does not receive capital funding to purchase the equipment needed to be a leading rehabilitation, complex continuing care and long-term care facility. That’s why we are so grateful to the community for rallying in support of all the work we do in Guelph and the surrounding area.”

Last year, gifts of all types and sizes touched patients and residents throughout the Health Centre. Donations enabled the purchase of vital medical equipment such as a bipap machine so patients with breathing difficulties could breathe easier.  They funded the Health Centre’s best-in-class electronic medication delivery system that ensures patients and residents receive the right medication dosage at the right time, each and every time.

Donations ensured people experience the most mobility and independence possible by purchasing items such as lifts, slings, hammocks, parallel bars, mattresses and hi-low beds.

Thanks to donations, people have the opportunity to participate in a variety of Recreation Therapy Programs. Those participating in the Alzheimer’s Day Program and other Outreach Services in the community have a dedicated driver to ensure they make it to programs safely and on a regular basis.

And last year, patients and families spending time in our palliative care areas were deeply touched by the donor-funded comfort carts – providing refreshments like coffee and tea, snacks and toiletries. “Our community has responded in so many ways to support those who need the services of the Health Centre,” shared Sera Filice-Armenio, Chief Executive Officer of St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation. “We are so grateful for your dedication to meeting the needs of St. Joseph’s patients now and in the future, enabling those facing a life-altering health crisis to live their best life possible.”

Regardless of how or the amount you give, your generosity is vital to supporting St. Joseph’s mission of serving with compassion, care and courage. We are proud and truly grateful to be supporting the healthcare needs of our community. Together, we are writing the next chapter in St. Joseph’s story.
