Dedicated Volunteer Raises Funds Upon Cancellation of Taste of Guelph
Carm has become a familiar face around St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph over the years. She’s been a volunteer here for over 20 years and has helped at Taste of Guelph since the event started 22 years ago. While most of our volunteers, like Carm, aren’t allowed to be back in the building just yet, we are in awe of their dedication to continuing to support our Health Centre.
“When I heard that Taste of Guelph was cancelled due to COVID-19, I felt in my heart that I needed to do something to help in some small way,” Carm says. Due to the amount of time she has spent at St. Joe’s as a volunteer, Carm understands the impact that donations have on vital equipment needs to help support the work that you do, especially during this pandemic.
So, she took it upon herself to write a letter (pictured below) to all those living in her apartment building asking for their support for St. Joe’s in light of the cancellation of this signature fundraising event. With this small spontaneous act, Carm was able to raise a remarkable $800 for our COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund. We are so grateful to Carm and her neighbours for this generous donation and for showing us that even though Taste of Guelph is cancelled, our community’s support for St. Joe’s continues to shine.
