A Quarter-Million-Dollar Gift from the W.C. Wood Foundation is Supporting State-of-the-Art Equipment at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph
It surprises many people to learn that the funding that hospitals and care facilities like St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph receive from the province, doesn’t fully cover the costs of purchasing, upgrading or replacing essential healthcare equipment. That’s why St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation is celebrating a generous gift of $250,000 from the W.C. Wood Foundation that is designed to bridge this gap.
The new quarter-million-dollar gift will support the vital equipment needs at St. Joseph’s Health Centre to ensure people receive the best rehabilitation, complex medical and long-term care possible. This gift will also support projects like our updated medication safety system and purchase items used by care teams every day, such as electrocardiograms, vital signs monitors, IV pumps, and even beds.
“We are so very honoured to be able to give back to the community by supporting the exceptional health care provided by St. Joe’s Health Centre and their compassionate team of caregivers.” says Susan Frasson, daughter of John and Barbara Wood, Founders of the W.C. Wood Foundation. “It is our family’s privilege to contribute to some of the most urgent equipment needs at St. Joe’s.”
In recognition of the gift, the Family Room in St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit has been named the W.C. Wood Foundation Family Room. This warm, comfortably appointed room offers a private space where the families of patients in palliative care can gather as they consult with clinicians and spend quality time with their loved ones.
“We’re immensely grateful to the W.C. Wood Foundation for their generous support of essential healthcare equipment for St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph,” says Sera Filice-Armenio, CEO, St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation. “And we’re equally as honoured to name a space within our Health Centre in recognition of their support. It’s a space that offers great comfort at a pivotal time. Similarly, the W.C. Wood Foundation’s gift is offering important financial support at a pivotal time for our Health Centre.”
