The grounds of St. Joseph’s Health Centre were dramatically transformed yesterday as they welcomed the community back to Taste of Guelph, presented by Linamar. Close to 50 local food and beverage establishments donated their time and talent to provide their unique and delicious offerings to over 700 guests.

In addition to tantalizing taste buds, this elegant yet relaxed garden party fundraiser brought our community and our healthcare and hospitality industries together to raise an all-time record high of over $250,000 for St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph.

“Beyond the beautiful culinary experience our vendors generously provide, Taste of Guelph symbolizes our community’s shared commitment to supporting the health and well-being of our patients and residents,” says John Woods, President, St. Joseph’s Health Centre. “We’re grateful to Linamar and all of our generous sponsors, guests, and volunteers as every dollar raised is needed to ensure St. Joseph’s is able to continue delivering the very best rehabilitation, complex hospital, palliative and long-term care.”

This year, the event received a tremendous boost thanks to the “Hutton Forest Products New Sponsorship Match”. James Hutton, President of Hutton Forest Products, committed to matching all new sponsorship revenue. As announced during the event, this unique challenge inspired a $50,000 increase in new sponsorship which James Hutton matched dollar for dollar – helping to raise a record amount for life-saving and life-sustaining tools and technologies.

“St. Joe’s relies on our community’s support of Taste of Guelph to help ensure we can purchase equipment that is not funded by the operating dollars the Health Centre receives from the province,” says Sera Filice-Armenio, CEO, St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation. “In fact, every piece of medical equipment used in the direct care of our patients and residents is purchased with donations. From lifts to help our rehab patients build strength, to vital sign monitors that can alert us to changes in heart and respiratory health, the support we receive from our generous community plays an important role in every person’s care here at St. Joe’s.”
